The National Institute on Genealogical Research Alumni Association (NIGRAA) annually presents the Richard S. Lackey Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $500 to an experienced researcher holding either a paid or volunteer position in the genealogical community.
The scholarship covers full tuition for the Genealogical Institute on Federal Records, ticket to the alumni dinner; and partial travel, hotel, and meal costs.
The American Society of Genealogists offers an annual Scholar Award, based on a manuscript or published paper of at least 5,000 words. The award carries a $1,000 grant, applicable towards tuition and expenses at one of five major academic genealogical programs in the United States. Awardees may choose to attend the Genealogical Institute on Federal Records.
