Despite the fact that the National Institute on Genealogical Research was not held this year, the Alumni Association maintained its annual Friday evening dinner tradition. Lynn C. McMillion, longtime institute director, presented on its history, which dates to 1950, and new director, Malissa Ruffner provided a glimpse of its future. Local alumni turned out in support; NGS President Jordan Jones of North Carolina and his family attended as well.
Druscilla Null, 2006 participant, and current President of the Maryland Genealogical Society presented a donation to the Alumni Association in honor of previous director Patricia O’Brien Shawker, who served both organizations in leadership positions.
